Bebo puts filmmakers in a fix
When a star is doing well, it is just normal for everyone to have a share of the star. And that is what is happening with Kareena Kapoor.
Bebo does not lose out on opportunities to star in the best commercial projects, but she had to turn down a biggie – the remake of the South Indian hit ‘Maryada Ramanna’.
‘Maryada Ramanna’ is the story of a plain-hearted man Ramu who is being chased by factionists for a murder committed by his father. The girl whom he meets on the train reveals she is in love with him and Ramu who until then was running for his life resolves to stand by her and also wins the enemy’s heart.
NR Pachisia who is remaking the Telugu hit with Ajay Devgn; and directed by Ashwini Dheer, wanted Kareena in his film to essay the role played by Saloni in the original.
Kareena was also interested but due to her prior commitments, she had no option but to opt out clearly telling them that her dates just did not match at all. And surely she has not been lying.
She has not been giving dates for her film opposite Saifu, ‘Agent Vinod’ which is as good as her home production.
She has been busy with films like Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Ra.One’, Imran Khan’s ‘Short Term Shaadi’, Salman Khan’s ‘Bodyguard’ and Aamir Khan’s yet untitled film.
Kareena has no dates to offer till the next eight months and the makers wanted to shoot before the end of this year when Ajay Devgn is free after the shooting of ‘Bol Bachchan’ so that they can finish the film by January.
Kareena’s busy schedule also puts a huge question mark on whether her schedule will allow her film ‘Agent Vinod’ to release on December 9.
The Shriram Raghavan film has been on hold because while Bebo will be busy with ‘Bodyguard’, Saifu will be busy with Homi Adjania’s ‘Cocktail’. Bebo also has to spend time promoting ‘Ra.One’.
No wonder this heady cocktail of dates is surely making Shriram also lose his patience and disappointing other producers who want to sign on Bebo.
